Louis XVI marble, ormoulu and porcelain portico clock probably from the collection of the duc de Penthièvre. The white and black marble clock has fine bronze doré mounts and Sèvres porcelain plaques in the Wedgwood style. There is an anchor engraved on the bottom and the inventory number “139”. There is also an indecipherable inscription in ink. The duc de Penthièvre, a grandson of Louis XIV, was the Grand Admiral of France and used an anchor as his personal device. It is found as an inventory signifier, usually with the initials of an individual chateau.
