Charles X Chinoiserie clock

Finely chased and gilded Charles X patinated bronze and ormoulu Chinoiserie mantel clock. A gesturing Chinese woman in elaborate garments, with the textile patterns indicated with exquisitely cast low relief flowers and elaborate chasing, stands near a small pagoda containing the clock movement on bronze patiné earth strewn with ormoulu flowers. The rectangular base, with curved roof tiles on three sides, is decorated with reserves of finely cast flowers flanking a panel with a butterfly. The clock is raised on winged dragon feet. [The woman probably held small objects in her hands. Original gilding.]
