Pair of Louis XIV ormoulu chenets depicting river goddesses. The reclining figures are resting on overturned water jars. Each is holding an oar. The figures are resting on bases flanked by volutes with a central palm leaf motif. One chenet of the same model is in the Musée des Arts Décoratifs. [One oar’s handle is missing; gilding somewhat worn.]
