Le Repas de Chasse, a painting by Francois Boucher

Le Repas de Chasse (“The Meal during the Hunt”) by François Boucher.
The painting depicts the picnic lunch of a group of jolly hunters taking a break from a hunt. Three reclining revelers offer each other toasts of red wine to celebrate their success while another hunter dressed in red doses. A servant arranges food while another brings more wine on a tray. A groom attends the horses as the dogs look on.
This painting, and three other versions, including one in the Musée Nissim de Camondo in Paris and another recently acquired by the Louvre, are now given to Boucher by Alastair Lang and Xavier Salmon, curator at Versailles and author of Les Chasses Exotiques de Louis XV.  The present picture is mentioned on page 72. The fine period Louis XV gilded frame is possibly original.
