Very fine and rare German neoclassical round table attributed to Johann Michael Rummer. The table has four spring-loaded mechanically operated drawers. The top is decorated with a fine marquetry roundel portraying a spray of flowers. The piece is mounted with fine ormolu and re-silvered bronzes. A writing table by the same maker, but attributed to Fiedler, is illustrated in Schreibmöbel 1700-1850: Wolfgang L. Eller; Michael Imhof Verlag, Petersberg, 2006. Page 211, Abb. 195. A group of tables by the same maker is convincingly attributed to Johann Michael Rummer. See Christie’s London: June 11-12, 2003; Lot 39. And Christie’s London: June 10, 2004; Lot 118
Ex Collection: “Divers Amateurs” - Paris; 4/18/13, lot 122 (as by Roentgen)
