Fine Dihl et Guérhard glazed and biscuit porcelain clock with sculptures portraying reading and writing children. The biscuit figures are seated with outstretched legs, their backs to the movement. They rest on a yellow glazed base decorated with grisaille decoration and inset scrolled “Wedgwood” blue and white relief plaques. A blue and white vase, also in the “Wedgwood” palette is placed on the top. Stenciled Dihl et Guérhard mark on rear. Movement signed: “Schmit a Paris.” A very similar Angoulême (the predecessor manufactory before the Revolution) model is illustrated in Régine de Plinval de Guillebon: Les Biscuits de porcelaine de Paris ; Faton, 2012.
