Console 002
Very fine and rare pair of early Louis XV gilded consoles. They are carved with a wealth of rococo motifs: dragons, scrolls, flowers, and shields. Unusually, they are an asymmetrical facing pair, each outside leg differing from the inside legs. The large facing wave-like scrolls, which form the stretchers, face one another. [Later white marble tops.]
