Sevres Chinoiserie cup and saucer decorated on all surfaces

Sèvres faux-lapis, gold and Chinoiserie decorated hard paste cup and saucer, tasse litron et sa sous-tasse, with decoration on all surfaces. The cup and the saucer, exceptionally, are decorated with faux-lapis grounds on the bottoms of the cup and the saucer. They are marked with elaborate crowned (partially effaced during the revolution) crossed-“L” marks, the date letters “ee” (1782), and the mark of the painter and gilder Dieu. The interior of the cup and the outside of the saucer are decorated with burnished gilding. The outside of the cup is decorated with a very well painted frieze depicting Chinese travelers on a road leading to a bridge between bands of lapis; the saucer is similarly decorated with vignettes of Chinese life and a central round reserve decorated with a gilded spray of flowers. [Gilding on outside of saucer with restorations.]
