Superbly painted pair of Vincennes seaux

Pair of superbly painted Vincennes seaux a bouteille. The seaux are firmly attributed to the “Crescent painter”, Louis-Denis Armand l’aine, the greatest bird painter at Vincennes and Sevres. He often signed his work with a crescent along with a very distinctive rendering of the crossed “L’s” identical to those appearing on this pair of seaux. The rose “blush” on the handles is very unusual.

One of the pair is almost certainly the seau illustrated by lithograph in the Soft Porcelain of Sevres by Garnier; Nimmo, London 1892. Plate LXVI. (one seau with a staple repair to a firing crack at the rim).
