Early Louis XV amaranth bureau-plat with well chased bronze vernissé mounts. The gracefully shaped desk, resting on four graceful cabriole legs, is veneered in plain amaranth (purple-wood) with ebony banding at the edges. Each of the three frieze drawers has an asymmetrical pull/key escutcheon composed of scrolls and acanthus motifs. There are chutes, sabots and end mounts. The metal-rimmed top is covered in its original well-tooled brown leather.
